Doris Bridge

December 9, 1927 — May 8, 2021

Doris A. (Partridge) Bridge, 93, passed away peacefully after a short illness on May 8, 2021 at Ross Manor in Bangor. She was the daughter of Louis and Edna Partridge of Corinna. Doris was a graduate of Corinna Union Academy and worked as a telephone operator in Corinna and then Bangor before her marriage to Galen Bridge. Due to Galen’s work they traveled and lived in numerous Western states including Spokane, WA where she became a Nanny for several doctors and their families, many of which have maintained a close contact with her over the years. When she retired, she then moved to Jensen Beach, FL where she lived for more than twenty years and enjoyed playing in many shuffleboard tournaments. Doris also enjoyed knitting, crosswords, gardening and flowers. In 2009, Doris moved to Rochester NH to live with her sister Alta and husband Basil Chadbourne. There she enjoyed many years of working in the yard, picking up buckets of acorns, removing dandelions and going for walks in the neighborhood. After Basil’s passing in 2019 she and her sister relocated to Solstice Senior Living in Bangor. In March, 2021 she entered Ross Manor due to health issues. The family expresses their appreciation for all the kindness and comfort given to Doris by all the Ross Manor community at Engel Place and Waterman Rehab as well as the staff at Northern Light Hospice. Doris is survived by her ex-husband Galen Bridge of Tucson, AZ; a daughter, Patricia Hughes of Stuart, FL; a special nephew Gordon Simmons of Greenville Junction, who she and Galen raised as a son; sisters, Alta Chadbourne of Bangor, Phyllis Call of Corinna, and Mildred and husband Eugene Stocker of Exeter; brothers Norman and wife Gloria Partridge of Corinna, Frederick and wife Irma Partridge of Augusta; grandson Jonathan, his wife Nina, and their daughters Amber and Giselle of Bellevue, NE; special niece Marcia and her husband Tom Skratt of Winterport, as well as many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Frances Mather; brothers-in-law Basil Chadbourne, Robert Call, and Charles Mather. A graveside remembrance will be held 11:30 AM, Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Morses Corner Cemetery, Corinna, with Pastor Jacob Gran of Starting Point Church officiating.
