Doris Brown

BREWER - Doris H. Brown, 90, died July 10, 2021. She was born August 11, 1930, in New Sweden, the daughter of Carl and Martha (Nelson) Anderson.
Doris married her sweetheart, Keith Brown, in spring 1946. She served as a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and enjoyed the many years as a member. Doris was also a nurse's assistant for years at the Bangor Community Hospital.
Her real passion was her flower gardens. People would stop and Doris would give them a tour of all her gardens. Doris would be up at 4:30 in the morning, pulling weeds and tending to her flowers. The big surprise came when the Bangor/Brewer garden club awarded her with 1st place one summer. She accepted the award under one condition, that her gardens would not be in the next years competition so someone else could win.
Doris was predeceased by her husband, Keith Brown of Brewer; son, Kevin Brown of Brewer, parents, Carl and Martha Anderson of Glastonbury, CT; brother, Ralph Anderson of Manchester CT; and sister, Viola Peary of Washburn. Doris is survived by her son, Gary and his wife, Kathy, of Orono; grandsons, Todd Brown of Orono and Jason Brown and his wife, Donna, of Bangor; granddaughter, Mistie Brown and her wife, Mandy, of Sanford, and their son, Flynn; great-granddaughter, Alexus Thorne and her husband, Brock, of Bangor, and their son, Blake; sister, Vangeline Jernstrom of Eastham, MA; one niece and several nephews.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where a memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021.
