Dorothy “Dotty” Diana Brown passed away peacefully March 9, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Bangor, Maine April 19, 1932, the daughter of Ralph “Tim” and Ruth Brown. She is survived by daughter Carolyn Joan Brown Hathaway and husband Roderick Allen Hathaway of Veazie Maine. Daughter Patricia Lynn Martin-Brown and partner Karen Martin- Brown of Dover, New Hampshire. Grandson Roderick Alexander Hathaway, his wife Deanna and great grandchildren Warren Alexander Glenn, Ainsely Lizabeth, Vivian Jane and their dog Griswold of Veazie, granddaughter Camille Martin-Brown of Dover, New Hampshire. She is also survived by her half brother, Arnold McLaughlin of Princeton and half sister, Ruth Curtis of
Princeton, Maine. A niece Denise Shaw, of Bangor. She is predeceased by her husband Albert Warren Brown, her sister Marilyn Joyce Brown, niece Belinda Brown Palmer, nephew Scott Alan Brown, and great grandchild Alexander Leroy Hathaway.

Dotty graduated from Bangor High School in 1950. She held several field hockey records at Bangor for many years. She loved organizing the Class of 1950 Reunions. Dotty spent many summers at Natarswi girl scout camp, and climbed Mount Katahdin 10 times. She worked at her uncle's jewelry store Boyd Noyes for several years. She married Albert Warren Brown of Brewer in 1953 and they lived in Brewer until moving to Brockton, MA, returning to Bangor in 1972. She work at EMMC for 15 years as the dormitory “Mom” to the nursing students at the EMMC School of Nursing. Dotty and Al loved camping in the great State of Maine, climbing all the mountains on Mt. Desert, and hiked and cross country skied the carriage trails on the island, and they loved University of Maine hockey and followed the team to all away games.
After the passing of her husband in 1991, she began working for Maine Tourism Bureau in the south bound on the I-95, and caring for her grandson Rick. Dotty cherished those years with her grandson and was so proud of all he has accomplished. She moved to the Graham Senior Independent Living where she enjoyed watching the Red Sox, and playing cribbage every Thursday at the Bangor Senior Center. She was an active member of the Veazie Senior Citizens. Dotty drove her Saturn all around Bangor meeting friends for coffee and playing cards until her health began to fail. She was so excited to give her car “Betsy” to her granddaughter Cami. In August 2018, Dotty moved to The Meadows in Old Town. She was an avid reader, loved puzzles and look forward to BINGO days especially on Saturday. She made several wonderful friends at the Meadows especially her best buddy Margaret Comeau. The family thanks The Meadows staff for their amazing care and love for Dotty.
A celebration of her life will be held 2 pm. Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at the city section of Mt. Hope Cemetery, Severance Rd. Bangor, with Robert Welch, officiating. Dotty was very proud of the light display her grandson has done over the last 9 years. And she looked forward to tuning in his holiday radio station every Christmas.
