Hermon – Dorothy “Dottie” Graves, 80, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side October 1, 2021, she was born in Bangor, May 22, 1941, the daughter of Richard Hollis Melvin and Mary (Baker) Melvin.
Dorothy was a graduate of Bangor High School class of 1960. Following graduation she went to work for Bangor Hydro Electric for 35 years as a customer service representative. Following her retirement in 1995 she enjoyed crafting, traveling, playing cards, visiting the casino, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Sandra Hawkes; mother and father-in-law, Harry and Amber Graves.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Dana Graves; sister, Vicki and Paul Gonyea, and their children, Clark, Keely and her boyfriend, Gabe; uncle, Floyd and Betty Melvin, brothers-in-law, Robert and Sharon Graves, Leslie and Donna Graves; sisters-in-law, Norma Jean and Herbie Jordan, Judy Jewett, and Brenda Golder; special nieces and nephews, Jeffrey and Tammy Jordan, Sherry and Rick Ringuette, Brian Graves, Michael and Jay Jewett, Scott and Tracy McLaughlin, Leaha Hawkes and her boyfriend, Mac; special friends, Raymond and Joann Ormsby, Mark and Cheryl Verrill, Randy and Laurie Gardner, Harvey and Diane Sprague, Jeff and Kathy Dow; as well as great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 11 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2021 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. with Rev. Garnett Chute, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
