EDDINGTON- Douglas Edward Collenburg, 64, died peacefully March 31, 2021 in the wonderful care of the nurses at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born October 16 1956, in New Haven, Connecticut, the son of Richard S. and Rita (Francesconi) Collenburg.
Moving to Maine at an early age, Doug grew up in Bangor. As an adult, he lived in several group homes under the care of Commonsense Housing Inc. There he received great care and made many friends with staff and consumers.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his older sister, Laurie.
He is survived by his older brother, Steven and his wife, Deborah, of Eddington; brother-in-law, Conrad Karam of Bangor. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 3:00-5:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor where a memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2021. The family invites everyone to share in conversation and refreshments at 163 Center Street, Bangor after the service. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor immediately following the reception. Those who wish to remember Doug in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the American Cancer Society, One Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
