BREWER — Douglas Owen Grant, 70, passed away unexpectedly and went to be with the Lord in Heaven on August 6, 2024. He was born May 15, 1954, to Norman and Margaret (Hosford) Grant Jr.
Doug resided in Crystal for most of his life, moving to Brewer to be closer to his children in 2021. He was proud to be from the County and would often reminisce about working in the woods with his father and brothers. He was a graduate of Island Falls High School and attended NMCC in his late 50’s, graduating with honors. He drove truck in his early working years, was employed at National Starch for 20 years and drove truck once again before retiring. He was a hard worker and set a wonderful example of work ethic for his children.
Doug loved his family with all his heart. He made spending time with each of his children a priority, always and no matter what. As a result, we all have so many beautiful memories to cherish of him and we are forever grateful. He was happiest when everyone was together and especially treasured time spent with his grandchildren. He loved being the giver of lawn mower rides and Happy Meals.
Doug’s compassion and selflessness for his family, friends and anyone in need was immeasurable. He was an amazing man with a heart of gold, strong Christian faith and his personality was in a class of its own – he lived unapologetically, and we loved him for it. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a joyous laugh and enjoyed sharing stories/memories of his life.
In addition to his parents, Doug was predeceased by his brother, Barry and his wife, Deborah Grant and sister, Holly Grant. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marcia (Willigar) Grant, and their children, Josh of Auburn, Ryan (Deidre), of Brewer, Jarred (Jen), of Jay, Mindy (William), of Bangor, Kimberly (Nathan), of Belfast, Kailee, of Eddington, Bobbi of Putney, Georgia, Dominick (Destiny), of Gastonia, North Carolina and Austin, of Brewer;
his very special grandchildren, Olivia, Makayla, Maggie, Annie, Bria, Sophie, Rayah, Hadley, Isaac and Hunter; brothers, Norman (Sharon) Grant III and Kyle Grant; sisters, Gaynor (Dennis) Sewell and Barbara Grant and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call on Friday, August 9th, 2024, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with a celebration of life to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dan Russell officiating, at Calvary Baptist Church, 61 State St., Brewer.
