Edgar Skanes

Levant and Skowhegan – Edgar R. Skanes, 89, died November 13, 2013 at the Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He was born October 11, 1924 in Belle Island, Newfoundland the son of John and Mary (Dickson) Skanes. Edgar became a United States Citizen at the age of 21, and proudly fought for his country in the Korean War. He worked for Fox n’ Ginn for many years. Edgar is predeceased by his wife Rosemary (Wren) Skanes; two brothers Charles and Hubert; three sisters Margaret, Theresa, and Marjorie. He is survived by two sisters Una Schreiber and Mary Luna; three brothers Harold, Llewellyn, and Alfred Skanes; many nieces and nephews. The family is grateful for the wonderful care he received at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor. A memorial service for Edgar will be held at a later date.
