Bangor – Edith Mae (Turner) Curry, 83, died December 14, 2023 at Northern Light EMMC. She was the wife of the late Dale Curry. They shared 44 years of marriage together.
Born in Bangor, Edie was the daughter of the late Ralph Turner and Ethel (Potter) Turner. She graduated from Bangor High School and was an active member of the Class of 1958.
Edie lived a very full and active life. In addition to caring for her family, Edie worked outside the home. She began her long working career at Merchants National Bank. She went on to work at Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln and then Bangor Hydro Company. Edie managed the store at The Bangor House for several years, until retiring at the age of 81. She was an avid bowler and a member of a bowling league in Lincoln for many years. Edie loved to cook and bake and was known for her Christmas ham balls and coffee cakes.
Edie is survived by her two sons, Scott Curry and his wife, Sarah of Brewer, and John Curry and his partner, Kathy of Bangor; a sister, Jean Turner of Bangor; a brother, Bill Shaw and his wife, Carolyn of Corinth; sister-in-law, Linda Nickerson of Bangor; brother-in-law, Harry (Bub) Curry, III and his wife, Peggy of Stetson; four grandchildren, Zachary Curry, Michael Curry, Ryan Curry and his wife, Amanda, and Amy Curry and her fiancé, Tyler; and very special great grandson, Casper Curry. Edie will be missed by all her friends, especially Joyce Morrill, Bob Taylor, the Lincoln girls, friends at The Bangor House, and special classmates from BHS Class of 1958.
Friends are invited to join the family in a celebration of life from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the Family Reception Center of Brookings Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor.
