BANGOR and HOLDEN - Edward Hudson, 96, died at home on April 9, 2015. He was born December 14, 1918 in Cleveland, OH, the son of Clara (Coulter) and Orville E. Hudson.
Ed earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Ohio State University where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta. He married Joan (Poese) after World War ll. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in 2014 shortly before Joan passed away. Edward served as an U.S. Army officer in the Pacific Theater during World War II. His early career involved working as a civil engineer in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Delaware and Utah. The latter part of his career was in government service in Washington, D.C.
Ed was actively involved in the lives of his daughters. He supported them in 4-H during their years in Great Falls, VA and served as the President of the Virginia 4-H Leaders Association. After he moved to Maine he enjoyed his time with the Lions Club in Bangor and the VFW in Brewer. He and Joan were committed members in the life and community of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bangor. He loved bridge and played a hand now and then even in his 96th year.
He is survived by daughters Clare Payne and husband Lewis of Holden, ME, Audrey Cecil and her husband Steven of Dedham, MA, and his beloved grandchildren Julia Bailin and husband Dan, Ned Payne and wife Lauren, Carrie Cecil, and his great granddaughter Penny Bailin.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Winterberry Heights Assisted Living Center for their loving care of Ed while he lived there.
A private service will be held for the family with interment later in the year at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, ME.
