Hampden – Edward Murphy, 69, died August 9, 2016, following a brief illness.
Ed was a graduate of Hampden Academy and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
He was a life-long resident of Hampden, serving for many years as a fireman, a member of the town council, and was one of the founding members of Hampden Children’s Day. Following his retirement from the Hampden Fire Department, he became co-owner of Blue Hill Pyrotechnics and Limousine Companies. At the time of his death, he was a driver for Maine Chauffered Services.
Surviving are, a brother, John of Orrington; and several nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by his business partner and friend, Rick Briggs, and Michael and Donna MacDonald.
A Celebration of Life service for Ed will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at East Orrington Congregational Church, 38 Johnson Mill Road, Orrington. Interment with military honors will be held at a later date at Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.
