BANGOR & ESSEX, MD – Eileen A. (Mueller) Kasten, 97, passed away May 26, 2019, at a Bangor hospital, after a brief illness. She was born October 25, 1921, in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of Harry and Flora (Aul) Mueller. Eileen attended schools in Baltimore. As a young woman, she worked at the Glenn L. Company during WWII, as a riveter. Eileen returned to the workforce in the 1960’s and worked at a shirt factory until her retirement. She married John L. Kasten Sr. on September 7, 1945, and together shared over 57 years of marriage, until his passing in 2003. Eileen was a longtime member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Middle River, Maryland. After moving to Bangor in 2010, she attended Hope Lutheran Church in Bangor. Eileen was a dedicated wife and mother, who will be missed by all who knew her. Her hobbies included gardening, collecting antiques, and traveling. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her only sister and best friend, Marie Mueller. She is survived by her son, John Kasten Jr. and wife, Marjorie of Levant; and special granddaughters, Lisa Plunkett and husband, David of Bangor, Michelle Ludolf and husband, Steve of Clemmons, NC; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Allison, Patrick, Emma, and Sophia of Bangor, and Sarah, Zoe, and Pearl of Clemmons, NC; and many special friends locally and out of state. A memorial service will be held 6 p.m., Tuesday May 28, 2019, at Crosspoint Church, 1476 Broadway, Bangor. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5 p.m, until time of service, Tuesday. All are welcome to share conversation and refreshments in the Crosspoint Auditorium, immediately following the service, Tuesday. Interment will be in Loudon Park Cemetery, Baltimore, MD.
