BANGOR – Elaine “Lainie” M. Beede-Harvey, 59, passed away May 6, 2022, at a Bangor hospital. She was born October 8, 1962, in Bangor, the daughter of Robert and Mary Elizabeth (O’Leary) Beede.
Lainie was a graduate of Orono High School and the University of New Hampshire in Durham, achieving a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. After college, she followed her many passions through her work. She had a deep and enduring love for children and ran her own daycare, both in New Hampshire and Maine. She was an antique dealer for many years, and as such had an appreciation for old things and their stories, along with cherishing the many relationships she built. She placed a high value on all spirituality, having become a Reiki Master and teacher of the art of Reiki. She was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Church and Our Lady of the Lake Chapel. She was extremely proud of her sons and that they followed in their father’s footsteps, both becoming engineers. She was an avid runner for decades, having run numerous marathons, including the Boston Marathon twice. Her favorite place on earth was their cottage on Phillips Lake, where she was eager to go as soon as the ice went out and stay until the leaves turned red. Lainie had an exceptionally generous spirit and unique zest for life. She loved music and books, writing, sending thoughtful cards and treasures, celebrating holidays, spending time with her family, dancing around her living room, but most of all…she loved to laugh.
Lainie is survived by her loving and devoted husband of nearly 40 years, Randal Harvey, of Bangor; sons, Tyler Harvey and his wife, Kelli, Weinhaus Harvey, of Milford, Connecticut, and Charles Harvey, of Kittery; grandsons, Jackson and Jesse Harvey; brothers, Scott Beede and his wife, Gail, of Otis, Charlie Beede and his wife, Joyce, of Long Island, Bahamas; James Beede and his longtime girlfriend, Robin Wasson, of Brewer; sister, Carol Colson and husband Steve, of Venice, Florida; niece, Jill Dalfonso Lydon, of South Portland; aunt, Pam O’Leary, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; brothers-in-law, Dan Dalfonso and his girlfriend, Mary Ann Russo, of Falmouth, Russell Harvey and his girlfriend, Jocelyn Arre, of Augusta; and her parents-in-law, Ralph and Joyce Harvey, of Searsport; and beloved cousins; and a countless number of friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Deb Dalfonso.
