Eleanor Goodridge

Eleanor (Wing) Goodridge, 86, passed away at her home in Bangor, June 10, 2015. She was born, April 1, 1929, in Mars Hill, the daughter of Caston and Christina Wing.
Eleanor attended school in Mars Hill at Aroostook County Institute for a few years before transferring to and graduating from Newport High School. From there, Eleanor attended Husson College, where she received her Bachelor’s degree. Eleanor married Arthur O. Goodridge, and together they spent more than 50 years happily married.
Eleanor was a woman of many talents. She taught many others to sew, and created quilts for her loved ones. She could knit and crochet and loved to work in the garden. Eleanor was an avid swimmer and she also enjoyed teaching others how to swim.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Stuart and her husband, Phillip; her grandson, Lance Stuart and his wife, Jaclyn; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Miller, Sally Jacques and Pat Goodridge. In addition to her husband, Eleanor was predeceased by her daughter, Christine Goodridge; and her granddaughter, Heather Leigh Stuart.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St. Bangor, with Rev. Dr. Mark Doty of Hammond St. Congregational Church, officiating. Family and friends are welcome to call 1 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery following the service. Family and friends are welcome to share in conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St. Bangor, following the interment.
