Eleanor Mae (MacKenzie) Parent, 83, passed away from complications of Alzheimer’s on May 26, 2024 with her husband, Kenneth, holding her hand. She was born July 15, 1940 in Oakfield, Maine, to Bernard and Jeanette (McGary) MacKenzie.
After graduating Old Town High School, Class of 1958, Eleanor married Kenneth Parent of Orono. They had two children, Julie and Steven. Eleanor was the school secretary at Lewis Stairs School and Stillwater Elementary School in Old Town. She enjoyed all the students and was very supportive of all their endeavors as they continued their life’s journey. She was always positive, fun loving, and sensitive to the needs of others.
Eleanor leaves behind her loving husband of 65 years, Kenny; daughter, Julie Stinson and husband, Bob, of Orono; son, Steven Parent and wife, June, of Searsmont, who were instrumental in her care over the years; grandsons, who she adored, Kenneth Stinson and wife., Amanda, and Calvin Parent; sisters, Ann LaPlante and Nancy Nahra of Old Town; brother, Kenneth MacKenzie of Cartersville, Georgia; many nieces and nephews; as well as many friends and colleagues whom she cherished.
The family would like to thank the staff of Bangor Nursing Home and St. Joseph Hospice for their care and compassion.
