ELIZABETH “BETTY” JON GORMELY - BANGOR
Elizabeth “Betty” Jon Gormely, 73, passed peacefully at a Bangor hospital the morning of April 6, 2023, due to complications from Diabetes.
Elizabeth was born on October 27, 1949, in Bangor, Maine to Noreen (Adams) Gormely and, Ret. U.S. Army, Lt Colonel John E Gormely. Growing up in a military family, she lived in Japan, Italy and, over the years, moved around New England and met many friends along the way to whom she stayed connected. As a young woman, she found a sense for travel and adventure, and she did not hesitate to pick up and go at a moment's notice. She lived her adult life in Bangor and Brewer buying and selling houses which kept her busy and grounded to the area. She enjoyed gardening and would spend hours meticulously maintaining her flower beds. She also enjoyed going for day trips and stopping at roadside food stands to find the “next best” lobster roll or red hot dog and then ending her trip at a Renys. Most important of all, she loved her family, grandchildren and especially her great grandchildren, which she dedicated her life to.
Elizabeth graduated from Shepard-Gill School of Practical Nursing of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston MA and later went on to further her education at EMCC where she received her RN degree. She committed herself to her work and proudly retired as a Cardiac Nurse from Northern Lights Hospital.
She is survived by her only child, Pamela Elizabeth Parent and spouse, Brian; four Grandchildren, Matthew Jon, Corrie Noreen and fiancé, Daren, Ashley Marie and partner, Lawrence, and Brianne Elizabeth; four Great Grandchildren, Sequoia Ann, John Thomas, Michael Giovanni, and the fourth Great Grandchild on the way.
Surviving Siblings: Patsy Pearson of Hampden, Judy Gormely of Brewer, Barbara Lawson and spouse, David, of Brewer, and Brother John Gormely Jr. and spouse, Nancy, of Sebec.
Elizabeth had many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great friends. Best friends that have been with her for a lifetime Patty, Priscilla, and Betty Lou, all of whom she loved dearly.
She spent the last 40 years with Bob Bernier, a loyal and loving friend and partner.
Predeceased by her Father, Ret. U.S. Army, Lt. Colonel John Edward Gormely; Mother, Noreen Genevieve (Adams) Gormely; Brother, William Adam Gormely; and best friend, Debbie Thibodeau.
Special thanks to all family and friends who gave their amazing support.
