Elizabeth O'Connell

HAMPDEN & BREWER – Elizabeth “Betty” Ann (Matthews) O’Connell, 88, passed away peacefully October 10, 2018, with her family by her side. She was born January 20, 1930, in Bangor, the daughter of Robert B. and Dorothea M. (Hammonds) Matthews.

Betty was an inspirational mother, and found tremendous joy in her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, James. T. O’Connell. She is survived by two daughters, Kathi Lawler and husband, Michael of Hampden, Linda Kivus and husband, Dr. Jack Kivus of Auburn; grandchildren, Rachel Lawler and Katie Lawler of Newport, RI, John Kivus and wife, Elyssa of Raleigh, NC, Elizabeth Kivus and husband, Brett Ialacci of Birmingham, AL, and extended family members.

Services will be private for the family. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden. Those wishing to remember Betty in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Edythe L.
