Elizabeth "Betty" Porter

Elizabeth” Betty” Porter died peacefully on 5-18-20 at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born June 8th 1940 in Baltic MI, daughter of Suluoand Elizabeth "Kangas" Paavilainen. She met and married the love of her life Chester C Porter and celebrated 57 years of marriage together. Together they had and raised 8 children. Betty was a homemaker and did volunteer work for the Salvation Army for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, reading, cooking and going to the casino. One of her greatest accomplishments was teaching young adults how to read.
In addition to her parents she was pre-deceased by her husband, Chester Porter Sr., daughter, Irene Byther, a daughter in law Liz Porter and two grandchildren Bryan Byther Jr. and Hope Porter; three brothers, John, Ron and David.
Surviving her are her children, Joyce and Doug Booth of Merimack NH, Chester Porter Jr from Prospect, ME, Donna Potvin from Holden, ME, James Porter from Holden, ME, TIna Hopkins from Bangor Me, Troy Porter and his partner Linda Roberts from Hampden and Cricket Porter and Terry McCann from Winterport, ME
She is survived also by her grandchildren Kelli, Heidi, Bodean, Jennifer, Chet III, Jamie, Luke, Erin, Adam, Angie, Richard, Terry, Tyler, Jonah and Daniel ; 18 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Norther Light Hospice Care. And a special thank you to George Thomas as an extended part of our family and to Missy McCann for her constant support and love during this difficult time.
A celebration of life is to be determined at a later date.
