Bangor – Elizabeth “Bette” Wright, 86, died December 18, 2014 at a local health care center. She was born May 25, 1928, in Augusta, daughter of Francis S. and Doris L. (Clough) Harwood. Bette was a graduate of Cony High School and attended William and Mary and was a registered Medical Technologist. She was Director of Volunteers at St. Joseph Hospital, Bangor and a principal of John Bapst CCD. Bette was a member of the Augusta Players and summer stock at Ogunquit, the Bangor Forum, Daughters of Isabella, Jaycee Wives, and the Maine Herb Society. Bette loved birds and was an avid and knowledgeable gardener. She enjoyed many winters at her home on Madeira Beach, Florida.

Surviving are two sons, Francis D. Wright of Madeira Beach, Florida, and Kevin O. Wright and his wife, Catherine, of San Antonio, Texas, her daughter, Debra E. Wright, of Bangor, Bette’s dearest friend and neighbor, Donna Treadwell. Two grandchildren, Wesley O Wright and Kate Lynch, both of Texas, a brother, Francis C. Harwood, of Hallowell, and a sister, Arlyne Bernard of Portland. Bette was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Wesley Wright, two sisters, Kathryn Smith and Louise Briggs, a brother, Edward Harwood, who died December 10, 2014. Many thanks to the staff at Stillwater Healthcare, especially Ryan, and her caretakers Ann Marie Dalton and Cindy Wilson.

A memorial service will be held 10:00am, Monday, December 29, 2014 in the chapel of the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
