Ellen Mae Bowley, 74, passed away October 2, 2021, at a Bangor hospital with her loving daughter by her side. She was born September 13, 1947 in Bangor, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Graves) Hallett.
Ellen graduated from Brewer High School in the Class of 1965. Shortly after high school she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Silas Bowley on September 29th, 1967, and settled in Orrington. They were married for 50 years prior to Roberts passing in 2018. Ellen worked for Eastern Maine Medical Center in medical records before she started having many illnesses that came her way. Throughout all of her illnesses Ellen was strong, optimistic and never complained. She was always ready to go and make the best of her time. Through the years Ellen and Robert traveled all over and went on cruises, Las Vegas, Texas, Florida, and were always doing something. She especially loved their time spent at their camp “Sweetwater” prior to Ellen’s stroke in 2007. Ellen had a love for giraffes and chocolate. She enjoyed swimming at her home on Brewer Lake and at Sweetwater.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Dawn Brown and her husband James of Orrington; a step-granddaughter, Jamie Brown of Bangor; a brother, Ronald Hallett and wife Deborah of Laguna Beach, CA; a dear friend Peggy Stubbs Dixon who visited often; all of those that helped Ellen during her journey; and special friends she made while at Stillwater Healthcare. In addition to her parents Ellen was predeceased by her husband Robert.
