Veazie - Ellen M. (Blanchard) Flagg, 75, died peacefully on November 30, 2022, from Alzheimer’s. She was born February 24, 1947, in Bangor, the daughter of Franz H. and Imogene O. (Getchell) Blanchard.
Ellen had a good, rich life that centered around her beloved husband of 48 years, Bruce. She had many interests that included interior design, antiques, painting, gardening, and shopping. Ellen spent many years volunteering at the Maine Veterans Home, Meals on Wheels, Dial Help, and the Bangor Humane Society. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bangor, the Eastern Maine Medical Center Auxiliary, and the YWCA Board of Directors.
Ellen enjoyed her winter houses in Florida and all the cruises she and her husband went on. Ellen loved all animals especially her small dogs.
In addition to her parents, Ellen was predeceased by a brother, Peter M. Blanchard.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce Flagg of Veazie; Son, Michael B. Baker of Eddington; daughter, Alice E. Baker of California; her sister and best friend, Priscilla Pullen of Orono; grandchildren, Ella, Miles, and Max Crock; step-son, Ross Flagg and his wife, Erin and their children, Hudson and Hayden all of Bangor; niece, Abigail Watanabe and family. In addition, Ellen will be fondly remembered by long-time special friends, Linda, Sally, Nicole, Cindy, and Yevette.
The family would like to thank the outstanding staff at Westgate for the kind and compassionate care that had been given to Ellen.
A celebration of Ellen’s life will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
