Ellen Lucy (Sutherland) Springer, 74, passed away unexpectedly on March 22, 2021 at a Bangor Hospital due to complications.
She was born in Brooks on August 19, 1946, the daughter of Emery J. Sutherland and Lucy Ellen Young. Ellen was raised by her oldest sister and her husband, Marion and the late Oral Dunivan.
She married the late Delbert Springer in 1968 and they spent 49 years together until his death in 2017. Ellen was a hairdresser and co-owner of Cliff’s Hairstyling Salon for 55 years. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, gambling, traveling, and going on cruises. Ellen loved to garden and the outdoors, but mostly she loved being with her family.
She is survived by two sons, Norman Springer and his wife, Christine, of Holden, and Joseph Springer of Dixmont; daughter, Jo-Ellen Springer of Dixmont; grandchildren, Caleb Springer, and Carson Crocker; two brothers, Alton Sutherland and his wife, Margarete, and David Sutherland and his wife, Susan; many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Ellen’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 10, 2021 at the Dixmont Snowmobile Club, 31 Cates Road, Dixmont. Masks will be required.
