Hampden - Ellura (Buck) Libby (known as Babe to her family and friends), passed away on June 24, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born October 15, 1924, in Searsmont, the daughter of Henry and Bessie (Campbell) Buck. Ellura was a graduate of Hampden Academy.
After marrying Robert S. Libby in 1945, she became a devoted wife and mother. She was actively involved with several family businesses and especially enjoyed the horses owned and boarded at the farm. Through this, she befriended many children and adults. She and her husband bred and raised Standardbreds and enjoyed traveling the harness racing circuit watching them race. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, and quilting for family and as donations to local nursing homes. She also enjoyed gardening. For many years, Ellura was a member of the Whitcomb-Baker VFW Auxillary in Hampden.
Ellura's home on Western Avenue was the gathering place for all family occasions. Anyone who knew Babe, knew that a warm welcome and a hot cup of coffee would always be awaiting them when they dropped by.
