Charleston – Elsie G. “Trudy” Willett, 89, passed away peacefully August 27, 2016 at a local health care facility. She was born March 9, 1927, in Gray, the daughter of Henry and Alfreda (Strout) Verrill.
Trudy graduated from Pennell Institute, in Gray, and considered being a teacher, briefly attending Normal School. She married Philip Willett in 1947, and together they embarked on life’s journey, living wherever there was work, in Dry Mills, Freeport, Millinocket, Exeter, Calais, Kenduskeag, and finally settling in Charleston. She is a past member of Exeter Baptist Church and Millinocket Baptist Church. She is a member at Charleston Church. Trudy was an avid reader, and she enjoyed gardening. She was always busy doing something.
In addition to her parents, Trudy was predeceased by 4 siblings. In addition to her husband of 69 years, Philip, she is survived by daughters Sandra Durgan of Charleston, Lynda Willett and Robyn Bowden, both of Florida; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be help 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Charleston Church, 185 Main Road, Charleston, with Rev. Vinny Greene, officiating.
