Bar Harbor- Emile J. Bechard, 83, passed away, October 29, 2016, after a period of declining health. He was born in Waterville, on April 5, 1933, the son of Wilfred and Dina (Roy) Bechard.
He attended Waterville schools and served as a United States Navy Veteran. He worked as a carpenter in Waterville and Bar Harbor and retired from A.B. & J.R. Hodgkins. He was an avid reader and a member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Bar Harbor.
Emile is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, M. Elizabeth “Betty” (Williams) Bechard, of Bar Harbor; daughters, Susan Porter and her spouse, Rocky, of Ellsworth, ME and Jennifer Bechard of Centerville, MA; son, Ted Bechard and spouse, Andrea, of Somerset, CA.; grandsons, Charlie and Jared Porter; sister, Ida Lozier of Winterville, MA.; god child, Lois Van Aken of Ashland, OR.; a sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Emile is predeceased by two brothers, Gerard and Joseph; two sisters, Alice and Germaine.
The family would like to thank the staff at Maine Veteran’s Home for the wonderful care that Emile received while there.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 21 Ledgelawn Ave., Bar Harbor at 10 AM Thursday, November 3, followed by the Rite of Committal at Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
