Eric James York, 65, passed away unexpectedly on February 9, 2024, at his home. He was born April 28, 1958, in Bangor the son of Pearly A. and Gertrude “Trudi” D. (Sylvain) York.
Eric was a gifted athlete for the Hampden Academy Bronco’s and was the quarter back of the football team, and also played on the basketball team, and the baseball team. He initially worked at the Ramada Inn as a cook for many years then worked at several restaurants throughout the region. For a stint he owned his own bakery in Brewer called New Yorks Bakery. He then went back to a job he loves at the Job Corp where he was the manager of the baking, catering, and culinary arts departments as a mentor and teacher. Eric loved his career there and was honored by many of his students and staff. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, camping and golf. Eric was an avid sports fan and followed the Red Sox as well as the New England Patriots. He was a doer and handyman and enjoyed his many projects over the years doing these projects his own way. Eric was loving and caring family man and prankster with a good sense of humor. He loved riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and enjoyed riding until he could no longer due to his illness.
He is survived by his loving partner Amy Cotterell; his children, Erik York Jr., Sara York and partner Tim Gallon, Matt York and partner Kelly Shultz, Mitchell Dumas and Nathan Dumas; grandchildren, Jacob, Lucy, James and Anthony; sisters, Laurie, Celeste, Mary, Jill, Doreen, and Heidi; a brother, Anthony, half siblings, Lisa, Joseph and John; and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor, following the service.
