Erik Seastead

November 13, 1956 — March 24, 2016

Erik A. Seastead, 59, passed away March 24, 2016, after a short yet fierce fight with cancer at his family’s home in Holden. He was born November 13, 1956, in Kittanning, PA, the son of Robert and Robin (Thompson) Seastead.

Erik never met a person he didn’t like. His kind and helpful nature made him a great asset in the sales field, where he spent the majority of his career. Erik’s passion was running. He completed 49 marathons in many places, including Boston, San Francisco, Tennessee, Florida and several more. His most frequently run, and favorite race was the Sugarloaf Marathon. It was an annual tradition for Erik and his dearest running buddies who dubbed themselves Old Men and a Cop. This year they will continue this tradition by running the race in Erik’s honor.

Erik was predeceased by his mother and father, Robert and Robin Seastead and his brother Kris Seastead. Erik is survived by his wife Janice Houp Seastead; his stepson Timothy D. Schick and his wife Katie Kwong of San Francisco; his sisters Nomi Seastead and her spouse Vincenzo Rotondo of Waldoboro; Heidi Goggin and her husband Stacy Goggin of Hallowell; and Marta Seastead of Portland, two grandchildren, many beloved in-laws and nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of New Hope Hospice in Eddington for their unwavering support, and most compassionate care for Erik and his family in their time of need.

Friends may call from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, March 29, at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 S. Main Street, Brewer, where a Celebration of Life funeral service will be held 1 PM, Wednesday, March 30. Internment will be at Eddy Cemetery, Eddington. Gifts in his memory may be made to New Hope Hospice, P.O. Box #70, Eddington, ME 04428-0070. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
