CARMEL – Eugene L. “Gene” Foster, 76, died August 12, 2024, at his home. He was born March 17, 1948, in Waterville, the son of Robert L. and Charlotte M. (Folsom) Foster.
Gene attended Winslow and Brewer High School, graduating from Brewer, Class of 1966. Following graduation, he spent 4 years in the Navy from 1966 – 1970 and worked for better than 30 years as a Master Electrician for Kinney Electric and the last 5 years before he retired, he worked as an electrician at the base for Maniacs 101st Civil Engineering.
Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Elaine (Grant) Foster; children, Kelly Foster of Bangor, Kristen Foster and her partner, Johnny Harris, of Carmel, Karyn Foster and her partner, Darryl Smith, of Carmel, and Keith Foster; granddaughters, Alyssa and her husband, Alex Brooks, of Newburgh, Sydney Smith, of Carmel, Brook Young, of Orland; sisters, Cheryl and Mike Whalen, of Brewer and Doreen and David Herrin, of Florida; brother, Glenn and his wife, Meg Foster, of Massachusetts; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gene was predeceased by his parents.
A memorial service for Gene will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2024, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Interment will be private.
