BANGOR and WINTERPORT– Eugene L. Nardi, 89, passed away December 22, 2023, at a local healthcare facility. He was born December 27, 1933, in Winterport, the son of Silvio and Adele (Pieropan) Nardi.
Eugene graduated from Winterport High School, Class of 1953. Following graduation, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree, as well as a Masters’ degree in Business, from the University of Maine, Orono. After completing his education, Eugene served his community in a variety of ways, as an assistant teacher in various public schools, as well as a part time teacher at Eastern Maine Community College, and the University College of Bangor. He also served as a Husson University Alumni board member. In addition to his acheivements, Eugene also proudly served in the United States Army.
Eugene spent over 20 years as a dog obedience trainer for dog competitions. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a Past Grand Knight, 4th Degree, and as District Deputy. He was also a member of the Lions’ Club and was active at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister. Eugene also owned his own business, Nardi Lighting Supply.
In addition to his parents, Eugene was predeceased by his sister, Flora Petralia; and a brother-in-law, Reginald Toothaker. He is survived by his sisters, Inez Toothaker and Linda Nardi; nephews, Marty Petralia, Tommy Petralia, Steve Toothaker, and Craig Toothaker; nieces, Diana Cammarata, and Lorraine Laham.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 3 – 5 p.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Ave, Hampden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 4, 2024, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, 435 S Main St, Winterport.
