F. Carter Taylor, 94, died peacefully on December 20, 2016, at Sussman House in Rockport, Maine. Carter was born in Rochester, New York, on June 2, 1922. A graduate of the University of Michigan, he served in the Army of the United States as a chemical engineer at Los Alamos, New Mexico, from 1944 to 1946. He worked at the Dow Chemical Company for many years and then returned to the University of Michigan to earn a PhD from the Institute for Social Research. Subsequently, he taught courses in organizational psychology and management at Kent State University and St. John Fisher College. He is survived by his wife, the Rev. Canon Mary Ann De Metsenaere Taylor of Frankfort, Maine; a daughter, Lynn Taylor of San Antonio, Texas; a son, Peter Taylor and his spouse, Lois Meyer Taylor, two grandsons, Mark and his spouse Amy and Will Taylor, and a great-grandson, Oliver Taylor. Carter was an avid supporter of the Michigan Wolverines, a skilled camper and outdoorsman, a nurturing and loving father and spouse. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bangor, Maine. A Funeral Service will be held 4pm, Friday, January 6, 2016 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 225 French St., Bangor with the Rev. Canon Marguerite A. H. Steadman, Rector officiating. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Taylor Family Lot in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, Rhode Island. Those who wish to remember Carter in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Higgins Fund for Music at St. John’s Episcopal Church, c/o St. John’s Episcopal Church, 234 French St., Bangor.
