Fannie Louise (Baker) Lancaster, 94, passed away on November 15, 2022. She was born in Millinocket, daughter of Austin Geoffrey Baker and Katharyn (Griffith) Baker on October 29, 1928.
Fannie graduated from Stearns High School. She attended Husson College in Bangor where she graduated in 1948. As a young woman she lived in Bangor and worked at various offices in the city.
In 1962 she met a young man named Larry Lancaster whom she would spend the next 60 years building a life together. They were married in Millinocket in 1963. They lived in Brewer for a few years and then they bought land in Eddington and built the house that they lived in until she was 92 years old.
Fannie and Larry enjoyed traveling across the county to see the western states and Alaska. She was a long-time member of the North Brewer Eddington United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, worked at the church suppers and church fairs. She volunteered at the Shoestring Shop. In her later years Fannie enjoyed reading the Bangor Daily News, especially the Saturday comics, bright flowers, and chocolate. Fannie had a great sense of humor, a welcoming smile and a kind word for everyone.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 59 years, is her daughter, Tina and her husband, Basil Closson from Hampden; her son, Jeff, and his wife Lori from Scarborough; and her daughter Susan, and her husband Sean Pierce from Pattersonville New York. She leaves grandchildren; Andrew and Matthew Closson, Kimberly and Joseph Lancaster, Anna, Sara (David Hulbert), Daniel (Elizabeth), Abigail, Nathaniel, Charis, Chloe, and Titus Pierce; great grandson, Samuel Hulbert; her sister, Mary McDonnell of Oregon; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Lawrence Baker.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hawthorne House in Freeport Maine for going above and beyond in helping Larry and Fannie spend time together for the last year and a half and the Palliative Care Staff at Mid Cost Hospital in Brunswick for their compassionate care.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 10-11 am, November 19, 2022, at North Brewer Eddington UMC ,31 Main Road Eddington. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Interment will be private.
