Carolyn

November 21, 1940 — August 28, 2021

Hampden - Florence Carolyn Williams, 80, passed away quietly with her children by her side Saturday, August 28, 2021, after a brief illness. Carolyn, as she was known, was born November 21, 1940 in Hazlehurst, Georgia, to Ethel and Samuel Mosley.
Carolyn grew up in Screven, Georgia, and she raised her children In Jesup, Georgia, before returning to Maine where her children and grandchildren live. Her grandchildren were the breath of life to her, and she enjoyed enriching relationships with them all up until her passing. Carolyn was generously gifted with many talents, cooking and sewing among them, but perhaps her best known trait was her direct communication.
Carolyn was kind and generous and was happiest when she had a big crowd around her kitchen. She began cooking when she was so small that she needed a stool to stand on to make biscuits for her large family of four brothers and three sisters. Her southern-style cooking routinely caused her guest’s belts to be loosened for comfort’s sake. She never measured ingredients, she just grabbed handfuls and cooked, and it was always perfect.
Carolyn enjoyed hunting, fishing, gospel music, and God, but she made an art form out of blaming allergies as the reason she had to leave anywhere.
Carolyn’s love for her family was above all else. She is survived by two daughters, Dixie Redmond and her husband, Rick, and their two sons, Alex and Josh, Katrina Barnes and her husband, Doug, and her two sons, Patrick and Nicholas, and Doug’s daughter, Emily; two sons, Herb Sargent and his wife, Tristine, and his daughter, Savannah Davis and her husband, Tyler, and son, James, and Tristine’s son, Colby; Shane Sargent and his wife, Lee, and their sons, Sam, Ben and Will; her stepchildren, Karen Littlefield, Susan Gallant, Toni Smoak, Livia Freeman, Paula Chavis, Wendy Phillips, Wendell Spell Jr. and Charlie Spell. Carolyn is also survived by sisters, Ruby Daniels and Patsy Nolan, and many beloved nieces and nephews. In recent years, Carolyn formed a special bond with her second-cousin, Joseph Moseley and his wife, Lindsey, and got immense joy from the pictures and videos they shared with her of their young son, Jaxson and their daughter, Avery.
Services will be private for family. Those wishing to remember Carolyn in a special way may make donations to Good Shepherd Food Bank www.gsfb.org. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
