Floyd “Papa” Pomeroy, 91, of Bangor passed away after a brief illness on November 25, 2024, at a Bangor hospital. He was born on November 16, 1933 to Kenneth and Vivian (Overlock) Pomeroy.
Floyd attended Hermon schools, finishing his education at Bangor High School. He married the love of his life, Jeanette Clark. He worked for the City of Bangor for 35 years, retiring from the Holiday Inn after 12 years. He was a member of Messiah Baptist Church, performing in the choir. He belonged to the Bangor Seniors and enjoyed the McDonald’s Breakfast Group.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Jeanette; granddaughter, Monica Avery; sisters, Charlotte Kelley and Connie Jo; son-in-law, Gary Egers. He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl (Tony) Dinardo, Darlene (Michael) Avery, Dawn Egers, and Ronda (Andy) Hartley; grandchildren, Jessica (Nate), Dominic (Stacy), Shawna, Emily, Josiah (Haley), Mason (Maddie); great-grandchildren, Jordan, Ady, Izzy, Forrest, Harper; sisters, Joan (Skip), and Lillian, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Philip Strickland House and Fifth Floor of St. Joseph’s Hospital for their care and compassion.
Friends may call from 6-8pm, Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Brookings-Smith 133 Center St. Bangor, where funeral services will be held at 12PM, Sunday, December 1, 2024. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor, following the service. Interment will be held at Snows Corner Cemetery, Hermon.
