Frances E. (Borowitz) Glazier, 98, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 6, 2023. She was surrounded by her devoted daughter Rachel Leen, son-in-law David Leen, and dedicated local granddaughters Amy Baker and Kimberly Leen.
Frances “Fran” was born January 26, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Max and Sarah (Schlackman) Borowitz. After graduating from Lafayette High School, she attended CCNY. After graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper. Fran was an active member of the Bangor community, volunteering with numerous local and national organizations including Beth Israel Synagogue Sisterhood, EMMC Auxiliary, Chevra Kadisha, Bangor Nursing Home, St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary, Hadassah, Cedars (Portland) ORT and the Jewish National Foundation. Lastly, she was also the President of B’nai B’rith Women’s Pine Tree Chapter.
Fran, a true matriarch of the family, was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. She will be greatly missed, especially by her immediate family who loved and admired her tremendously. She had a wicked sense of humor, impeccable style, loved the stock market, cards, and golf. She was also an amazing cook, a real “hostess with the mostest”, especially during the holidays.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years Neil J. Glazier, and loving son Marvin H. Glazier.
She is survived by her daughter Rachel Leen and husband David of Dedham; daughter Lynn Glazier of Sun City, AZ; daughter-in-law Sheri Glazier of Bangor; grandchildren, Amy Baker and husband Rob of Brewer; Lori Glazier and husband Keith Marill, M.D. of Boston, MA; Jill Glazier of Steamboat Springs, CO; Eric Rodman and wife Lucia of Glendale, AZ; Wendy Southwick and husband Bruce of Portland; Joshua Leen and wife Stephanie of Denver, CO; Michelle Leen of Oakland, CA; Stephanie Gurevich and husband Gene of Potomac, MD; Kimberly Leen of Bangor; 18 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank St. Joseph's Hospice for their guidance during this challenging time, the wonderful caregivers Shelley, Wendy, Jolene, Madison, and Syerra, as well as the caring CNA staff at Ross Manor.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 10, 2023 at 12:00 PM at the Jewish Funeral Chapel, 118 Center Street, Bangor.
