Frances Quirk

October 4, 1931 — December 31, 2022

Frances L. (Prostak) Quirk died peacefully, December 31, 2022, at Ross Manor while surrounded by family.

Frances “Fran” was born on October 4, 1931, in Fair Oakes, PA, the daughter of Joseph & Sophie Prostak. She graduated from Ambridge High School, located in Pennsylvania in 1948. After moving to Maine in her early adult years Fran used her skills in shorthand working at the Dow Air Force Base in Bangor. Before retiring from The State of Maine DHHS she was employed by the Bangor School System. She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle Parish. Fran lived in her beloved Hampden home for over 50 years before moving to The Ellen Leach Memorial Home in Brewer, where she enjoyed her retirement years.

Fran was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She was always eager to dole out tough love as a single parent, providing her family with confidence and success. She loved taking walks and going for rides. Fran loved cheering on her boys, grandchildren, and great grandchildren playing sports. She was an avid Steelers Fan and had a true love for family dogs.

In addition to her parents, Fran was predeceased by her grandson, Michael G. Quirk and a very special friend, Efthim (Tim) Economu. Surviving are her siblings, Jean Miller of Hawaii, and Barbara Giammaria of Indiana. Also surviving are her five sons and wives, Jack and Rebecca Quirk of Brewer, Robert and Patricia Quirk of Bangor, James and Brandi Quirk of Hampden, Thomas and Gayle Quirk of Bangor, David and Corenna Quirk of Bangor. When any of her seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren came into the room she was delighted with joy.

A special thanks to all the wonderful caretakers, at St Joseph’s Home Health Care, Ross Manor Skilled Rehabilitation and St. Joseph Hospice.
