Francis O. “Frannie” Bass, 83, passed away peacefully January 4, 2023, at his home. He was born January 30, 1939, in Brewer, the son of Philip L. and Madeline A. (Davis) Bass.
Frannie was mainly raised in Winterport. At a young age, he started his own business, F & M Garage and Propane. He also served as a mechanic for over 20 years. He was also a heavy equipment operator for Perkins Construction. He spent 25 years driving a flatbed truck and wrecker as an AAA agent. He worked as a construction worker for his brother, Wes, until Wes’ passing. Frannie was a very loving, caring, devoted father, grandfather, and uncle. He very much enjoyed working with his son, Donnie, building his house in Winterport until his passing. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, who loved camping with his brother, Wes and son, Donnie Bass, at Fowler Pond, Baxter State Park. He was a loyal member of the Order of Oddfellows, Garfield Lodge #99 in Winterport.
Surviving Frannie, are his children, Pauline Dube, Donald “Donnie” Bass and his wife, Crystal, Frankie Lowe, and Sharon Norris; grandchildren, Autumn Hatch, Casey Bass, Malorie Ramsey, Cassie Robichaud, Nathan Geiger, Nicole “Nikki” Murphy, Gerald and Mackenzie Lowe, and Dustin Emerson; sister, Geneva Tupper and her husband, Steve; and several great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, Frannie was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, Maxine Bass; brother, Wesley Bass; sister, Evelyn Bass; son-in-law, Jerry Dube; and his beloved dog, “FeFe”.
