Francis E. Myatt
Dedham, Lucerne, Bangor
Francis E. Myatt, age 87, passed away on November 18, 2022 after a brief illness. Frank was born in Portland, Maine on September 27, 1935 to the late Francis D. Myatt and Catherine (Hopkins) Myatt.

Frank grew up on Munjoy Hill, attended Cathedral Grammar School, and graduated from Cheverus High School 1953. Upon graduation, Frank worked as a junior accountant for Swift & Company all over New England before settling in the Bangor area in 1960. After years of work in the accounting and food service industries, he retired as City Treasurer of Ellsworth in 1997.

On August 6, 1986, Frank married his beloved wife, Barbara H. Myatt. He was a communicant of Saint Paul the Apostle Parish and Our Lady of the Lake Chapel at Green Lake and often attended daily Mass at St. Mary’s Church.

Frank made his home on Phillips Lake in Dedham, Maine for more than 40 years, where he served his community on the budget committee and as president of the historical society.

Frank’s true vocation was as a member of the Dedham-Lucerne Fire Department, beginning in 1975 and serving as its Fire Chief from 1983-2011. He selflessly volunteered countless hours serving his community with unrivaled commitment. Frank oversaw updates in training and facilities, modernizing the department and constructing a new station in 1999. Frank’s dedication earned well-deserved recognition with a 2003 WLBZ 2 Those Who Care profile, and he was a recipient of the 2006 Cheverus Magis Award honoring those who embody the Jesuit call to be “people for and with others.”

Frank was predeceased by his wife Barbara on November 3, 1993.

He is survived by his sons, Martin Myatt of Portland, Michael Myatt and his wife Maureen of Fleming Island, Florida, Mark Myatt of Portland, Sean Myatt of Portland, Patrick Myatt and his wife Elizabeth of Abbot, and Matthew Myatt and his wife Christina of Gray; stepson Bradley Power and his wife and Donna of Brewer; grandchildren, Patrick Myatt of Bellingham, Washington, Abigail Myatt-Flynn and her husband Connor of North Carolina, Connor Myatt of Gray, and Kimberly Missall of Madison, Wisconsin, Ryan and Kelsey Power of Bangor, Katelyn and Josh O’Neill of Exeter; great-grandchildren Nora Flynn, Kellan Power, and Thomas O’Neill. Frank is also survived by his brother, Gerard Myatt, his wife Terese, and his nephews G. Anthony Myatt and Francis Myatt all of Portland.
