Francis "Frank" Toner, 70, of Veazie, passed away at Northern Light EMMC in Bangor on March 7, 2025. He was born on August 5, 1954, in Pennsylvania to Francis Toner Sr. and Agnes (Paul) Toner.
He spent his formative years in Pennsylvania and then joined the Air Force after graduating high school. He was stationed in Nevada, where he met and married Elizabeth Orr. The two had five children together and settled in central Maine. After leaving the military, Frank worked for the FAA until his retirement. He later moved to Maryland, where he married his second wife, Rebecca. The two had a son together and then moved to Maine to be closer to Frank's family. Frank enjoyed building and tinkering with various gadgets and was a hobbyist inventor. His electronics knowledge allowed him to create novel solutions to problems, like the "ghost detector" he designed to allay one of his sons' fear of ghosts. He loved music, and his children grew up surrounded by classic and '80s rock. Faith played a prominent role in his life, and he was a devout member of various churches over the years, most recently Crosspoint Church of Bangor.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; five children from his first marriage and their spouses, Charity Edge and her husband, Joe, David Toner, Brian Toner and his wife, Amber Hathaway, Alan Toner and his wife, Kayla, and Alissa Hendley and her husband, John. He is also survived by his son from his second marriage, Benjamin Toner. Additionally, he is survived by six grandchildren, Bekah, Caleb, and Toby Edge, Tyler Toner, and Sage and Olivia Toner, as well as a seventh grandchild, baby Hendley, on the way. He is also survived by his former wife, Elizabeth Orr. He was predeceased by his parents; stepmother; several siblings; and a half brother.
A celebration of life will be held at Crosspoint Church of Bangor on March 15 at 11 a.m.
