Alton and Zephyrhills Florida – Freda L. Wilcox, 81, passed away March 22, 2019, surrounded by family at home. She was born January 20, 1938, in Hampden, the daughter of Delmont Sr. and Amy (Lawton) Spencer. Freda graduated from Hampden Academy. Following graduation, she married Stacy Wilcox in October of 1958. She went on to work at DHHS in Bangor for 31 years. Freda was an excellent cook. She was a member of the Messiah Baptist church, and was very strong in her faith. She loved camping and spending time with her family, which was everything to her. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Stacy Wilcox; twin daughters, Freda and Rita; her son, Jeff Wilcox; and a sister, Irene Ryder. Freda is survived by her children; Brian Wilcox and wife, Robin, Cheryl Nason and her husband, Larry, Michael Wilcox and his wife, Jolean, Pam Jewell and her husband, Keith, Aaron Wilcox and his wife, Melinda; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Hazel Ryder; and a brother, Delmont Spencer Jr. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A funeral service will be held Friday March 29, 2019 at 6 p.m. at the Messiah Baptist Church, 985 Union St., Bangor, with Rev. Gary Horton, pastor, officiating. A reception will be held in the church hall following the service.
