Frederick Charles Hallsworth, 87, was called to be with His Lord and Savior and reunite with his family in heaven June 17, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 4, 1927 in Watertown, NY, son of Harold “Harry” and Willabelle (Schram) Hallsworth.
Fred retired after a 22 year career in the United States Air Force in 1967 after having served in World War II and the Korean War. He was proud of his country and faithfully marched in all of the Bangor parades for many years, and participated even when he was no longer able to walk. Fred was a gifted carpenter and enjoyed model trains, fishing and working at his camp at Branch Lake which he built. His legacy to his family will forever be his faith in God, devotion to his wife and family, his patriotism, his kind and generous spirit and unending sense of humor.
Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Lucille (Neville) Hallsworth; his children: Mary Hicks, Barbara Fearon and her husband, Frank, Susan Shaw, Christine Hallsworth, Tom Hallsworth and his wife, Beth, and Teresa Hallsworth; twelve grandchildren and their spouses, eight great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Willie. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the compassionate and caring staff of Beacon Hospice, healthcare providers at the Bangor VA, New England Home Healthcare and the staff and residents of Sunbury Village with special gratitude and love to his nighttime caregiver, Mrs. Helen Carrigan and the loving support of extended family and friends.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 2 to 4 pm Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. A funeral Mass will be held 12 noon Monday, June 23, 2014 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio Street, Bangor followed by the Rite of Committal with military honors at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
