Gail Elizabeth (McCann) York Theriault, widow of Alfred L. Theriault, passed away on July 26, 2024 in Enfield, Maine and went on to join her beloved Al and other family that had gone before her. Gail was born November 10, 1942 to David E. McCann Jr. and Agnes Miller McCann in Lincoln Maine.
While her dad went into the Army during WWII she and Agnes lived with his parents. When her dad came home, David and Agnes built and moved into their own house while Gail stayed with her beloved grandparents. She spent most of her childhood years living with them. During her high school years, she moved in with her dad until she graduated from Howland High School, and married her first love, John “Jackie” York. They had two children,
Lisa and David. John was taken by cancer after just a few short years and she again found herself living in her father's house with her children to raise on her own, with her grandmother, Etta living next to her. Her father and his wife, Dot, were her salvation. Always there for her. In 1970 she met the man she always said was the love of her life, Alfred Theriault. Blending their large family, they had 50 wonderfully happy and challenging years together. In 1978 they sold the house in Howland and moved to the camp on Cold Stream Pond to live. They shared a love of nature and being outside. They were always busy doing something with the kids, or just spending time together. There was always something going on. They spent a lot of time fishing, staying at the hunting camp every fall, boating, going to the ocean, camping at remote ponds and lakes, and just staying home and enjoying the lake and being around friends and family. They lived there until Al passed in 2020. With the help of her children, she was able to stay at home at the lake she and Al so loved.
Gail was predeceased by both of her husbands; her beloved father and his wife, Dot, whom she always called her "real mother"; her birth mother, Agnes Strout; special stepfather, Howard Strout; loving uncle and aunt, Harry and Boofie McCann; stepsons, Stewart Theriault, and Stanley Theriault; granddaughter, Ashley Coffman; grandson, Chad Eric Theriault; and a cousin, Betty Clements. She is survived by her and Al's children, Alfred Theriault III of Old Town, Nina Theriault, Trina and Darrell Toothaker of Enfield, Lisa and Rob Plourde of West Enfield, David Theriault of Columbia, South Carolina, and a daughter-in-law, Colleen Theriault of Palmyra; her stepson from her marriage with Jackie, John and Diane York of Howland; her special cousins, the five remaining McCann girls; her sisters-in-law, Beverly Ireland of Howland, Mary Lou and Don Sereyko of Howland, and Bernadette Humphrey of Sanford; her grandchildren, Matthew Theriault, Allison Eaton, Courtney Coffman, Margo Theriault, Lynn Theriault, Michael Toothaker, Makenzie Plourde, and Tristaka Murner; great grandchildren, Sebastian Munster, Chasen Eaton, Marina McCafferty, Jayden Verrill, Jacob Jurczyk, Dominic Toothaker, Breighson Plourde, Delilah Murner, Avery Murner, and Lincoln Murner;
