Glenburn – Gary H. Cookson, 80, went to his eternal resting place on May 8, 2024. He was born in Brewer, the son of Harry and Ruth Cookson.
Gary spent many years raising potatoes on the family farm. He plowed and sanded roads for the town of Glenburn for 32 years, he also worked construction for the State. When he retired, he drove School bus for John T. Cyr and Sons, until he could not do it any longer.
He was a 50 year plus member of the Kenduskeag Lodge #137 A.F. & A.M., he is also a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, belonging to Tuscan Chapter #148 of Bangor, and Rumery Chapter #46 of Addison.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Evelyn Cookson; his son, Craig G. Cookson and his wife, Sandra; daughter, Julie A. Monk and her husband, Jeffery; four grandchildren, Alexandra Cookson and her partner, Chad Lucas, Andrew Cookson and his wife, Pamela, Jacob Monk and Mara Monk; three sisters, Eileen Murphy, Pat Cookson, and Joanne Fish and her husband, Arthur M. Fish; special sister-in-law, Collette M. Lowe; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Gary wanted a Celebration of Life to be held at his home, his happy place. There also will be an Eastern Star Service, both will be scheduled at a later date.
