Georgeanne Loder Jackson

August 8, 1946 — February 18, 2020

HAMPDEN – Georgeanne Loder Jackson, 73, died unexpectedly in her home February 18, 2020. She was born August 8, 1946, in Stamford, Connecticut, the daughter of George and Margaret (Nichols) Loder.

Georgeanne moved to Maine with husband, David Allen Jackson, in 1966, where she has resided ever since. A lifelong learner, Georgeanne earned both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s from the University of Maine in Orono. Throughout her thirty-five year career, Georgeanne was a passionate educator who worked in RSU #22, teaching special education, social studies, but mainly as a gifted and talented teacher. An advocate for students and colleagues alike, Georgeanne was known for her innovative and inspiring approach and touched many lives over the course of a life devoted to education.

In addition to her parents, Georgeanne was predeceased by her brother, Douglas; and her son, Christopher Scott.

In addition to her partner, David Jackson, Georgeanne is survived by sons, Noel Jackson of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Doug Jackson and his wife, Carrie, of JB-MDL, New Jersey; daughter, Elizabeth Jackson Pritchett and husband, Giles, of Surrey, England; four grandchildren, Esme Pritchett, Alexander Pritchett, Nevada Jackson, and Lincoln Jackson; sisters, Reed Loder and Margaret Loder-Healy; and brother, Fred Loder and wife, Nancy.

A celebration of Georgeanne’s life will be confirmed for August 2020 and will take place at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden. Those who wish to express condolences or leave a note of remembrance to the family may do so at BrookingsSmith.com.
