Orono – Gerald E. Page, 90 years young, passed away gently from Earth to Heaven on March 15, 2016. He was born August 18, 1925, in Corinth, the son of Blaine Ames Page and Dora (MacKenzie) Page.
Gerry proudly served in the United States Marine Corps in World War II and was involved in the invasion of Okinawa. He retired as Department Head of Electrical Power and Electronics at Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. After his retirement he and his wife Blanchie spent many enjoyable winters in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Gerry was an avid gardener and instilled that love in his children and grandchildren. His flower gardens were a source of beauty and peace for all who gazed upon them. He was also a gifted amateur photographer of all nature’s creations. Gerry was a member of the Dirigo Pines family and was noted for his kind demeanor and great sense of humor. He was a devoted member of the Federated Church of Stillwater for over 50 years and served on various boards of the church.
In addition to his parents, Gerry was predeceased by his brothers Bill, Roland and Errol Page; and his sister Phyllis Good. He is survived by his beloved wife Blanchie; his son Blaine Alan and wife Denise of Millinocket; his grandson Blaine Adam page and wife Brea of Watertown, MA; his granddaughter Brianna Robbins of Windham; and great granddaughters Page Robbins and Ava Page. He is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, and many friends near and dear to him.
As per Gerry’s wishes, a private graveside service, with military honors will be held at a later date at the Corinthian Cemetery in Corinth. The last verse of the Marine Corps Hymn: “If the Army and the Navy ever gaze on Heaven’s scenes, they will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines”. GOD just recruited one squared away Marine to join this detail. Semper Fi!
