Geraldine Goodine

CARMEL – Geraldine “Gerry” (Thibodeau) Goodine, 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior February 11, 2020, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born February 1, 1931, in Bethlehem, NH, the daughter of Charles and Clara (Guiggey) Thibodeau.

Gerry graduated Valedictorian from Orono High School, Class of 1948. Following high school, she worked at Sears, and later, after 23 years of service, she retired from the University of Maine in 1986. Gerry, with her husband, Steve, were founding members of Faith Baptist Church in Orono, where she served faithfully with her church family. She also enjoyed reading, quilting, knitting, sewing, as well as cooking. Gerry spent many winters in Okeechobee, FL, after retiring.

In addition to her parents, Gerry was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Jean Goodine. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Stephen Goodine of Carmel; a daughter, Susan Lippoth of Winterport; a brother, Don Thibodeau and wife, Pam of Hampden; two nieces, Renée Wright and husband, Jeff of Saco, Andrea Hastings and husband, Randy of Blue Hill; one great-nephew, Joshua Wright and wife, Savannah, of Smyrna, GA; two great-nieces, Mikalah Jensen and husband, Daniel, of Greenville, SC; Emily Wright of Saco; a step-son, Scott Goodine of Levant; a step-daughter, Stephanie Brown of Milford, and many dear friends. Gerry wished to give a special thanks to her loving family and church family, and to the entire staff of Eastern Maine Area Agency on Aging.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at Faith Baptist Church, 160 Forest Avenue, Orono, with Pastor David J. Natale, officiating. Relative and friends are welcome to call 11am until time of service, Tuesday, at the church. All are welcome to share conversation and refreshments in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service, Tuesday. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery, Carmel, at a date and time to be announced in the spring. Gifts in Gerry’s memory may be made to Faith Baptist Church, PO Box 44, Orono, ME 04473.
