Geraldine J. (Rancourt) Gavard

WINTERPORT – Geraldine J. (Rancourt) Gavard, 87, passed away after a brief illness October 22, 2020, at a Bangor hospital. She was born November 19, 1932, in Winterport, the daughter of Harry and Alice Rancourt.
Geraldine graduated from Winterport High School, Class of 1950. Following graduation, she married Alfred R. Sale Sr., of Carmel, where they had a family and enjoyed dancing and antiquing. Later in life, in the early 1980’s, she married George Gavard. She and George enjoyed their many fishing excursions at Grand Lake Stream. They were avid members of the Winterport Snowmobile Club. Geraldine had spent most of her working career in the cafeteria at Husson University, until she retired. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, George; stepson, Michael Sale; fifteen siblings. Surviving, are her son, Alfred R. Sale Jr.; daughter, Janet L. Sale; stepson, Fred Sale; stepdaughter, Sharon Pouliot; eight grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; four great, great grandchildren. A Liturgy outside of Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2020, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, followed by the Rite of Committal in Oak Hill Cemetery, Winterport. Please be mindful of others by practicing social distancing, wearing a face covering, that staff will be conducting contact tracing, and be aware that the number of people allowed in the building at one time is limited.
