Gertrude Ross

CARMEL – Gertrude Edith “Gertie” (Bickford) Ross, 89, died January 27, 2019, at a Bangor hospital. She was born March 17, 1929, in Detroit, ME, the daughter of the Chester and Linnis (Overlock) Bickford.

Gertie married Albert E. Ross in 1947, and lived in Carmel most of their lives.

In addition to her parents, Gertie was predeceased by her husband, Albert; a son, Merle; a grandson, Travis; one brother; and several sisters. Gertie is survived by her sons, Paul, Royce, Michael and wife, Karen; and daughters, Pauline and husband, Winston, Robin and husband, David; grandsons, Paul Jr., Winston Jr., and Adam; granddaughters, Wendy, Lisa, Kim, Sonya, Tammy, Amy, and Melissa; 26 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Jennie.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday February 2, 2019, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. Rex H. Garrett, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call 1 p.m., until time of service, Saturday. Interment will be in South Levant Cemetery, Levant, in the spring.
