BANGOR - Trudy Wilbur, age 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 10, 2015 in Bangor, ME. She was born in Rotterdam, Holland to Gertrude and Karl Widmer on October 19, 1922. She immigrated to the United States at age 2 and grew up in Hoboken, NJ. Trudy worked for 10 years for the Salvation Army in New York City, was an avid student of history and a lover of classical music. She had a lovely soprano voice and performed at weddings and other occasions.
She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Leslie Wilbur. She is survived by four sons: Clifford and wife Wendy Erickson of Bangor, ME; Reverend Kenneth Wilbur and wife Cathy of Tappahannock,VA; Ted Wilbur and wife Jane of Oxford, MA, Christopher and wife Barbara of Haysi, VA.; eight grandchildren: Rebecca Wilbur, Andy Ryan, Stephanie Davis, Becca Johnston, Deanna Wilbur, Lauren Wilbur, Monica Wilbur, and Michael Wilbur; and three great grandchildren: Brady Davis, Emma Grace Johnston, and Teddie Ryan.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Brooking Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where relatives and friends may call from noon until the time of service. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, following the service.
