Gilman “Gilly” J. Morneault, 95, passed away from Covid at St. Josephs Hospital, June 6, 2022. He was born May 9, 1927 at Eagle Lake, Maine, the son of Louis and Clarena (Guimond) Morneault. He moved to Bangor in 1942 and entered the U.S. Army in 1945. He served in WWII as a military police officer in Sonthofen, Germany.
He was honorably discharged in 1947. He worked for more than 40 years as the gas service man for ML Coffin Co. retiring in 1989. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and especially fishing. He was a life long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Gilman is survived by his three children; Cheryl Tardiff, of Holden, David Morneault, of Bangor, and Linda Sholler, of Dedham, his grandchildren; Eric Tardiff, and his wife, Robin, Jill Holyoke, and her husband, Jason, Jason Morneault, and Kevin Morneault, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, his two brothers; Llewellyn Morneault, of Glenburn, and Harry McNally Jr, of New Hampshire. He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis (Wiggin) Morneault, his son, Michael J. Morneault, his sisters; Verna Labby, and Juanita Castle, his brothers; Loman Morneault, and Norman Morneault.
He will be fondly remembered by his neighbors Rose Paradis, and Rita Dulaney, and his special friend Mary Ellen Corliss.
At the time of his death, he resided at Woodlands Assisted Living in Brewer, ME. The family would like to thank everyone at Woodlands for the care and friendship he received for the past two and a half years.
A graveside service will be held on June 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor.
