Glenn Mitchell

BANGOR - Glenn E. Mitchell, 83, of Bangor, ME passed on June 14, 2022 surrounded by his loving daughters, and was reunited with his beloved son, Todd. Glenn was born December 28, 1938, in Etna, ME, the youngest child of George and Grace (McBrierty) Mitchell.

Glenn graduated from Newport High School, Class of 1959. He was a very hardworking man and worked many jobs throughout his life. He found much pride and passion working at the Maine Department of Transportation, where he worked for 38 years. He told many stories of doing things he loved most, plowing snow, and working on the roads. Glenn was a loving, kind, generous, loyal soul who loved going on cruises, playing cards, dancing, conversing and spending quality time with his family and friends. He was the best father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. There wasn’t a stranger Glenn would meet that he couldn’t strike up a great conversation with.

Glenn is survived by his daughters, Michele Mitchell, Holly Grant, and her husband, Cary; four grandchildren, Mitchell and Joel Hodgins, Molly and Ally Chapman; significant other, Lillian Thurston; two brothers, Don Mitchell and his wife, Betty, Dale Mitchell and his wife, Dianne; one sister, Geneva McCrea; many nieces and nephews. Glenn was predeceased by his son, Todd Mitchell, as well as his brother, Fred Mitchell; sisters, Thelma Stauffer and Winnie Merry.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Monday June 20, 2022 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 South Main Street, Brewer. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 10:00 am until time of service, Monday. A reception will follow in the Brookings-Smith Reception Rooms in Brewer immediately following the service.
