Gloria M. Shaw

ORRINGTON - Gloria Maxine (Young) Shaw, 87, passed away January 22, 2019, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born July 24, 1931, in Brewer, the daughter of Howard M. and Ruby G. (Worcester) Young.
Gloria attended schools in Orrington. She married George E. Shaw on April 16, 1949, and shared 57 years together. Gloria worked as a CNA, a housekeeper, and homemaker. She was a longtime member of East Orrington Congregational Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, part of the Women’s Aid Group, and a member of the church choir. Gloria also attended Glad Tidings Church in Bangor, where she was a member of the choir. She enjoyed arts and crafts, spending time crocheting and knitting, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a son, George E. Shaw Jr.; sisters, Marlene Grover, and Geraldine Look; and a brother, Melvin Young. She is survived by her six daughters, Lauretta Bragdon and husband, Steve of Zephyr Hills, FL., Linda Dunifer and husband, Chris of Hermon, Ielda Shaw of Stetson, Rhonda Guerrette and husband, Donald of Newport, Anita Petrello and husband, Savario of Allenstown, NH., and Kaileen Runnells and husband, Brian of Stetson; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Beryl Barker of Bangor; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
